Year 2
Electricity!
The boys have had an electrifying time discovering (safely) about electricity! We have
looked at the many uses of electricity that we can find around our homes, schools and
environments. We have enjoyed studying the different ways electricity can reach us by
the use of mains electricity and batteries. The boys were thrilled to make their own
circuits, lighting bulbs and spinning motors, putting their new found knowledge to use.
Becoming Masai Experts
In our Geography lessons
this term we have been
visiting the Eastern side of
the Afr ican cont inent ,
speci fical ly Kenya and
Tanzania where we have
been learning about the
Masai tribes people. The boys
have been fascinated with
these semi-nomadic people
and have loved wearing their
robes, making shields and
jumping as high as the Masai
men. Despite embracing
everything taught by the
teachers, they drew the line
when it came to trying the
traditional Masai diet! Some
boys have successfully
learned some counting in
Swahili, maybe they can
teach you this holiday!
Thank you Mr Taylor
Our electricity topic was
rounded off nicely with a visit
from Mr Taylor and his
“magical” bike that with our
p e dd l e p owe r c r e a t e s
electricity. Even the teachers
couldn't be held back as we all
wanted to see how many lights
we could light up!
May the force be with you!
More science! We have
been discovering about the
powers of forces. Both
classes have carried out
strict experiments testing
the force, friction and the
influence of gravity with
very enlightening results.
