This term has seen some very successful performances in local Music Festivals.
The Senior Choir performed at the Bowdon Festival in February and were placed
second in their class. More impressive was the fact that, as a result of this
performance, they have been invited to perform two concerts with Altrincham
Choral Society at Christmas. There were also some individual successes from
Hywel Griffiths, piano and Ben Wood, clarinet who won their classes in the Bowdon
Festival; a fantastic achievement.
We held a day of ABRSM Examinations in February and all of the boys played very well. The examiner for
the day commented how refreshing it was to listen to boys so consistently well prepared so thanks must be
given to Miss Sheldon, Miss Goss, Mr Price and Mr King for their hard work. The boys too deserve a big pat
on the back, although I expect much higher marks in the scales next time. I am however, not holding my
breath!
In March, the Senior Choir and the newly formed Highbury Choir performed at the Altrincham Music
Festival. This is a non-competitive Festival, but the boys still took it very seriously; they sang and presented
themselves very well. This was a particularly impressive feat from the Highbury Choir, made up of year 1
and 2 boys, as they had only had 6 rehearsals prior to the event and sang some very complicated
repertoire for boys of their age.
The end of the term was particularly busy with our Ensembles Concert, the Early Years and Key Stage 1
Easter performance and our final music assembly. The boys have worked very hard all term and so, along
with all of the peripatetic team, I must say a very genuine thank you; you deserve a good break.
