Trips and Residentials
Our school calendar is teeming with trips and visits. Each and every one of these is carefully selected and planned to bring learning to life and to open the boys’ minds to the world beyond the classroom. Day trips include visits to theatres, stately homes, historical sites and places of worship. We also welcome visitors into school, such as authors, theatre companies, financiers and even a chocolate maker, to enhance the boys’ learning experiences.
Residential trips are also a key part of the curriculum. The diverse and high quality overnight trips Altrincham Preparatory School offer enables teachers to create experiences that enhance pupils’ classroom learning, adding opportunities our boys may not otherwise have. They promote the importance of allowing children to connect with the outdoor world through engaging in powerful and inspirational lessons which can only be experienced by being outside.
Residential visits start in Year 3 with a two-night stay at Robinwood in Wrexham.
Year 4 spend two nights away at a residential centre in Yorkshire.
In Year 5, the boys experience the beauty of the Lake District, developing their water sports skills.
In Year 6 the boys start the year with a two-night stay at Condover Hall focusing on developing their teambuilding and leadership skills. To bring their time at APS to a close, they enjoy a week long immersion trip to France, during which the boys visit the the battle fields, French markets and Ypres in Belguim for the day.
