YEAR 4
Hall Aboard!
We have had two wonderfully interesting and
educational trips this term in Year 4 which have
really added to our History topic on the Tudors.
In October we travelled to Ordsall Hall in Salford
to find out what it might have been like to live in
a Tudor mansion (as master or servant!).
More recently we experienced a Tudor Christmas
at Bramall Hall and found out how differently the
Yuletide festivities were in the distant past.
On both occasions the boys met up with real
characters from 500 years ago and learned
about how they viewed the world they lived in.
The boys felt that both trips were ‘great’ and
that they added enormously to our work in class.
Let me introduce myself
It seems so long ago when the bright eyed and
innocent boys who were more Year 3 than Year 4
introduced themselves to us. It is always
fascinating to see what the boys think is important
enough to be included when writing about
themselves (pets often get mentioned but family
members don’t!).

(watch out for the poisonous pewter plates!)
4A boys re-enact the tumultuous reign of Henry
VIII (with suitable overacting)
Despite the rain and the cold the boys of Year
4 had a fantastic time at Bramall Hall
Geometric Patterns
As part of our Maths work on symmetry Year 4
boys created some geometric patterns from a
partially completed template.
Having completed the pattern the boys shaded
it in using their own colour scheme. This
patchwork quilt effect looked stunning.
